NGC 6992 Eastern Part of Cygnus Loop - Hybrid version
Hybrid composition of NGC6962 Eastern Part of the Cygnus Loop (Veil Nebula). The picture is a combination of Natural Color frames and Narrow Band SII-Ha-OIII frames to increase the details perception as well as the gases distribution in the nebula.
Relevant facts:
- the several thin filaments are probably due to the undulations of the shock-wave surfaces.
- the supernova that generated the Cygnus loop, of which the NGC 6992 is the brightest part, exploded between 5,000 and 8,000 years ago.
